London City Airport Gets Create
Create Events has been working with London City Airport on an ad-hoc basis since August 2007, delivering a number of new route launches in conjunction with airline partners including Austrian Airlines and Lufthansa. Stunts included a team of frostbitten Arctic Explorers descending upon the terminal to find their way back to Norway to promote SAS's new route to Oslo. The agency was also handed the brief to produce London City Airport's two-day Winter Expo in Broadgate, EC4. The event was conceived to promote winter destinations served out of London City Airport by British Airways, Swiss International Air Lines and Air France. Create Events director Patrick Haveron was delighted with the partnership; "We are enabling London City Airport's fresh and dynamic PR team to grab attention with unusual bespoke events. From a huge alpine ski slope at Broadgate Circle to burlesque Berlin fan dances, we find a theatrical touch enhances the effectiveness of our client's message." Create Events report to the airport's Press & PR Manager, Rupa Haria, who comments, "The team at Create Events are exciting and innovative, always surprising me with their unique and thoughtful ideas. Their understanding of our business model combined with their excellent client management skills makes them a pleasure to work with." Create Events will also produce launch events for four new BA CityFlyer routes on behalf of London City Airport. London City Airport is celebrating its 21st birthday in 2008. The airport announced record growth in 2007, with a 23 per cent increase in passenger numbers.

The Ultimate Football Party
We had so much fun with this one; from the theming to the attention to detail, it was football crazy for this party of VIP's gathered together to celebrate a Dennis Roach's 65th birthday. Dennis arrived by helicopter thinking he was having lunch with his son, and was greated by a dozen cheerleaders dressed in his old football strip. Create Events produced a unique party invite in the style of an 8 page authentic football programme, detailing Dennis's life and filled with messages from his family. His school reports became place mats and brown envelope bungs became place settings. Giant Wreckham and Bookham stiltwalkers led the penalty shoot outs on the lawn, whilst the Dan Redding Trio played jazz versions of Match of the Day. The Schmooze Brothers and Bobby Davro entertained after dinner, followed by the John Wilson Band and The Upbeat Beatles performing in the mouth of a giant goal. A highlight of the day was a 'This is Your Life' DVD presentation from Dennis's son on the big screens either side of the stage.
Visit USA Ball
We were pleased to organise the Visit USA Association's Annual fundraising ball at The Dorchester. The night also featured the VUSA Media Awards for the first time, with amusing choices of walk up music from 'Sweet Home Alabama', 'Going to Miami', 'Hey Mickey' to 'Hotel California'! The awards were presented by a double hander of The Lottery's Alan Dedicoat and Steve Wright's Tim Smith Music and Dancing was provided by the fabulous Alpha Connection band, who helped the 300 guests party into the small hours. We were thrilled that the organisers raised a record amount for their charity, Just a Drop.

Visit Florida Annual Dinner
The historic setting of Middle Temple, part of London's Law Courts, was the exciting venue for the Visit Florida annual dinner. This involved 300 Anglo American travel industry folk arriving for drinks and gossip, captured on film by the Digital Paparazzi, who uploaded hundreds of shots of the night to a unique website within hours of the event. The evening continued with sponsor speeches whilst dining out on the ancient long tables, followed by partying into the night to the John Wilson Band. This seven piece band, fronted by ex Average White Band singer John Wilson, played a heady mix of 60's soul, 70's funk and pop classics, with John's soulful vocals a highlight, alongside a fabulous lead sax player. Create supplied the band, stage, backdrops, lighting, P.A. and sponsor branding, as well as front of house staff and event management on the night. "The John Wilson band were outstanding, they really made the night. We demanded encores and didn't stop dancing, even when the venue wanted us to go home" Sue Bloomfield, Visit Florida
